Produce distributors · PlentyOrder

Produce orders, matched to the pack you actually sell.

Case, half case, 175 count, 25 lb box. Built to turn “4 limes, 2 cilantro, 3 cs romas” into lines with the right pack, and to flag the line nobody wrote a unit for instead of guessing.

The problem

Where produce orders go wrong

01

The unit is implied

“4 limes” means four cases to a regular account. A missing unit is filled from that account’s history, and the line is labeled “assumed” so nobody ships four limes or forty cases by accident.

02

Count and pack are part of the item

175 ct limes, 48s avocados and 24 ct romaine are different items from their neighbors. Matching respects the counts and pack sizes in your price list.

03

Market items run out

Romaine, herbs and berries go short on bad days. The short is flagged when the order comes in, with a catalog substitute proposed, not discovered on the loading dock.

How it works

A produce order at 5 AM

  1. 015:10 AM

    The WhatsApp message arrives

It’s in English and Spanish, with half the units missing.

  2. 025:10 AM

    Units and counts are resolved

Units are filled from history and labeled, and “48s” is read as a count.

  3. 035:30 AM

    The short is decided

Romaine is out, so the desk sends green leaf, the catalog sub, with one click.

  4. 045:35 AM

    Approved and on the route

The order is approved before the AM route closes.

Produce shorthand it’s built to read

Produce orders lean on counts and context. Here is how common phrases map to lines, and when the ticket asks for a person.

FAQ

Questions from produce distributors.

Can it handle half cases?

If your catalog has a half-case item, the line matches to it. If not, the line is flagged so the desk decides whether to split a case.

What if a customer doesn’t write a unit?

The unit is filled from that account’s past orders and the line is labeled “assumed,” so it’s easy to check. With no history, the line is flagged for a person.

Does it work with Produce Pro?

Approved orders are built to be handed off as an import file or a CSV for the system you already run. See the Produce Pro page for how that handoff works.

What about price changes?

Lines use the prices in the price list you upload. Re-upload the list when prices move, and new orders pick up the new prices.
